TeleSCAN is the first European Internet service for Cancer research, treatment and education providing a World Wide Web interface to primarily European information resources and services related to Cancer. TeleSCAN provides links and information for patients and the general public , for medical professionals and researchers , and provides facilities including information and map-based access to cancer organisations in Europe and language support in major European languages.

TeleSCAN was initiated in 1994 within the MARIA Project of the EU DGXIII AIM Program.

TeleSCAN is a partner within the ACTION Project Cluster of the DGXIII 4th Framework Program, working in particular with the HORIZON and MEDICO Projects. TeleSCAN is designed to demonstrate the benefits and possibilities of multimedia telematics to the European oncologist, in order to assist in the uptake of IT as an effective clinical tool, for both clinicians and staff.
